The Brickworks.

Location
The disused 157 ha Corobrik site, in Durban’s northern motorway corridor, in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Project Owner/s
Investec Property, a subsidiary of Investec Bank.

Project Description
The project entails the redevelopment of an old brick manufacturing site into an industrial park called The Brickworks.

The project will be completed in three phases and will include warehouses of up to 100 000 m2 under roof.

Phase 1 comprises 34 ha and will result in the development of about 150 000 m2 of gross lettable area. Phase 2 comprises 34 ha and Phase 3 about 21 ha.

Once all three phases have been developed, The Brickworks will measure more than 450 000 m2 of gross lettable area.

Capital Expenditure
The three-phase development is valued at more than R6-billion at completion.

Planned Start/End Date
The top-structure development is planned to start in the second half of 2022.

Currently, work at the site involves establishing bulk services, including electricity, water, sewerage, lighting and fencing.
